1. Mr. Rupert Grynne, To ask the President of the Board of Tradey whether any definite undertaking has been required of, or given by, the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation that for the future no Germans, whether native-born or naturalised, shall be appointed directors of the corporation in Hong Kong whether any naturalised Germans are still members of its advisory committee in London; and, if so, what are their names. [Wednesday 8th November.]

Mr. Rupert Gwynne, To ask the President of the Board of Trade, whether the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation is licensed to do business in London with or on behalf of the Deutsch-Asiatische Bank of Berlin; and, if so, for what purposes and period and for whose benefit. 16. Mr. Rupert Gwynne, To ask the President of the Board of Trade, whether, in view of the close relations and agreements existing before and since the outbreak of war between the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation and the Deutsch- Asiatische Bank, and the prejudicial effect of the same upon British interests and British prestige in the far East, His Majesty's Government will now take steps by legislation or otherwise to prevent German influence being similarly exercised in future and by requiring, inter alia, that the direction and control of all British banks or financial syndicates engaged in the business of public loans for Foreign countries shall be vested exclusively in British subjects, native-born.
